In today’s rapidly changing world, trauma is a widespread reality, amplified by war,
violence, displacement, natural disasters, climate change, and the ongoing effects of the
COVID-19 pandemic. Vulnerable populations (refugees, marginalized communities, and
those affected by historical injustices) experience compounded challenges that leave deep
psychological and social scars. The need for healing, resilience, and empowerment has
never been greater.
Arts, creative arts therapies, artistic practices and techniques —including visual arts,
music, dance, drama, and more— offer unique pathways for individuals to process trauma,
reconnect with themselves, build resilience, and restore hope. Creative practices are
increasingly recognized as vital tools for both individual recovery and community
rebuilding, providing safe spaces for expression, reflection, and transformation.
